Next-generation powder innovations
AkzoNobel Powder Coatings
I don’t speak Italian. At PaintExpo 2026, AkzoNobel Powder Coatings will demonstrate how powder coating technology is constantly evolving – with smarter performance, lower energy consumption and a longer-lasting design effect.
At stand no. 3420, the company will present innovations from its Interpon and Resicoat portfolios that reflect the changing demands on powder coatings: from architectural design freedom and weather resistance to demanding applications in the automotive sector and more sustainable production processes.
Design for the future
Today, architectural powder coatings are expected to do more than just protect surfaces. They must support bold design ideas whilst maintaining their appearance and performance for decades – despite the effects of the weather. A highlight of PaintExpo will be the newly launched Futura Collection 2026–2029, a brand-new four-year colour trend collection for architecture, developed to reflect emerging global design trends. The collection offers architects and designers a carefully curated colour palette tailored to the evolving design language of contemporary façades.
In addition to Futura, AkzoNobel presents Interpon Précis Ultra Matt, which creates ultra-matt surfaces with a subtle sheen and luminosity that allows light to dance across façades and brings architectural concepts to life. The architectural range is further complemented by an expanded Interpon D2525 Anodic range, which combines the elegant look of anodised aluminium with extremely high durability. Together, these developments underscore how powder coatings support both creative ambitions and long-term durability in outdoor applications.
Performance for demanding automotive applications
Equally crucial is performance in automotive applications, where powder coatings protect components exposed to extreme mechanical and environmental stresses. Interpon solutions are frequently used for wheels, springs and underbody components, ensuring corrosion protection and durability under harsh operating conditions.
In light of the increasing electrification of vehicles, the Resicoat portfolio is expanding its offering to include a new dimension, providing high-performance powder coatings for electrical insulation that have been specifically developed for batteries, motors and associated components, ensuring the safety, reliability and long-term performance of electric vehicles.
Sustainability that boosts productivity
Efficiency and environmental performance are increasingly intertwined. With its Eco+ portfolio, AkzoNobel Powder Coatings will present solutions that reduce curing energy, lower material consumption or simplify application processes – without compromising durability.
From single-coat corrosion protection systems and optimised low-energy curing to thin-film technologies, the focus is on solutions that deliver measurable environmental benefits whilst enhancing operational efficiency.
Innovation through partnership
Innovation through partnership will also be on display. In collaboration with IPG, AkzoNobel is presenting a laser-based curing technology that uses laser energy in a targeted manner to enable faster curing cycles, improved process control and lower overall energy consumption. A live demonstration of powder coating and laser curing will take place every hour at the stand. Visitors can experience the technology in action and explore its potential for greater efficiency and flexibility in powder coating processes.
Visitors are warmly invited to visit AkzoNobel Powder Coatings at PaintExpo 2026, taking place from 14 to 17 April in Karlsruhe, and to discover the latest developments in powder coating technology at stand no. 3420.
