NEW PRODUCT: Conductivity meets process reliability – GEHOLIT + WIEMER presents innovation for ATEX areas
GEHOLIT+WIEMER Lack- und Kunststoff-Chemie GmbH
GEHOLIT + WIEMER has developed a novel conductive liquid coating for industrial coating processes. The innovative liquid paint combines easy processing with strong adhesion to many substrates such as steel, cast iron, aluminum, plastic, and other materials. At the same time, it offers specifically adjustable conductivity and impresses with its high chemical resistance to common solvents and cleaning chemicals. Thanks to optimized flow properties, material consumption and post-processing costs are reduced, making processes more efficient and economical. A particular focus is on applications in potentially explosive areas in the field of hydrogen production and processing. Extensive testing is required for use in hazardous areas, which GEHOLIT + WIEMER has consistently implemented. A test certificate from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) confirms its use as a 2- and 3-layer structure, both in single and triple layer thicknesses up to 960 µm. In addition, the evaluation protocol ExTL-5, PTB-EP-2025-01 from PTB Braunschweig is available. The electrostatic characteristics are clearly defined: surface resistance < 20 kΩ (based on DIN EN 61340-2-3:2017) and earth leakage resistance < 65 kΩ (based on DIN EN 61340-2-3:2000).
The system is suitable for conductive coatings in the automotive, mechanical engineering, and electronics industries and consists of the GEHOPON-E41A-Metallgrund epoxy primer and the WIEREGEN-M42A matt, conductive polyurethane topcoat. Customers benefit from a higher-quality surface, longer service life, and high conductivity even with greater layer thicknesses. The new product can be seen live at PaintExpo 2026, Karlsruhe Exhibition Center, from April 14 to 17, 2026, at booth 2410 in hall 2. Further information can be found at www.geholit-wiemer.de.
