AI-supported solutions for the paint and coatings industry

PI Probaligence, part of the CADFEM Group and technology partner of Ansys, will present its STOCHOS AI platform at PaintExpo 2025. The software was developed for demanding technical issues and supports manufacturers in optimising development and production processes in a data-based, efficient and traceable manner.

In the paint and coatings industry, STOCHOS enables the targeted optimisation of formulations and process parameters – for example, in terms of viscosity, layer thickness, drying and curing behaviour, surface quality or durability. Experimental data, production data and simulation results can be evaluated together to systematically understand the interaction between raw materials, process control and product properties.

STOCHOS combines precisely tuned AI algorithms developed in-house and is particularly suitable for scenarios in which data is expensive, limited or noisy – typical for paint development. The probabilistic models provide a quantified uncertainty for each prediction, enabling users to make reliable statements about process windows, quality risks and scalability.

Another advantage is the simultaneous optimisation of technical targets and economic factors. In addition to quality and performance parameters, raw material costs, energy consumption and scrap rates can also be taken into account in order to identify robust and economically attractive solutions even before costly test series are carried out.

STOCHOS also offers an Agentic AI module that enables analysis, optimisation and automation workflows via natural language. Specialist users can describe, adapt and reuse complex processes without in-depth programming knowledge.
