Brillux Industrielack is converting its core range of powder coatings to NT technology
Brillux GmbH & Co. KG
For greater energy and process efficiency in industrial coating applications: Brillux Industrielack is completely converting its core range of powder coatings to low-temperature coatings. To this end, the company has optimised all existing products and developed them from scratch – whilst maintaining the same reliable quality. Industrial processors and contract coaters can cure the new powder coatings at significantly lower temperatures, thereby reducing their carbon footprint. Alternatively, it is possible to increase productivity with shorter cycle times. The switch is a key focus for Brillux Industrielack at PaintExpo 2026.
NT powder coatings are gaining ground. However, their widespread breakthrough has so far been hindered by occasionally unsatisfactory quality, visual defects or process-related issues. The choice still often falls on tried-and-tested powder coatings with traditional formulations. But this is no longer the case at Brillux Industrielack: “NT products are now the new standard in our powder coating range. We are systematically converting our core range to NT technology,” emphasises Dr Dirk Schlosser, Head of Research and Development for Powder Coating Systems. “This is our commitment to greater sustainability and efficiency in the process chain.”
27 NT grades with reliable quality
To this end, Brillux Industrielack has reformulated and optimised all products in its core powder coating range. Depending on the application, applicators can choose between epoxy and polyester powder coatings, as well as blended powder coatings, which, as hybrid products, combine the advantages of both technologies. In addition, Brillux Industrielack also offers powder-based clear coats. Due to the different surface textures and gloss levels of the products, the manufacturer has converted a total of 27 grades. To enable a complete NT-based system build-up, the corresponding powder primer is also available as an NT variant.
The new core range of NT powder coatings from Brillux Industrielack offers applicators efficiency benefits in several ways: lower curing temperatures enable a significant reduction in energy consumption and, consequently, CO₂ emissions. In addition, they also have the option of retaining existing parameters such as the curing temperature, thereby reducing throughput times accordingly. This increases productivity. A compromise between reducing temperature and curing time is also conceivable if required.
All processes tailored to individual requirements can be implemented using a single core product range. This is because the comprehensive switch to NT powder coatings creates a uniform system that can be integrated into existing coating processes without any disruption to the product range. For applicators, this means planning reliability.

Further advantages: particularly with thick-walled components, there is even greater potential for savings. This is because a significantly lower curing temperature also reduces the time required to reach the necessary object temperature. Furthermore, the new NT powder coatings are designed to be over-bake stable. Even at higher temperatures or with longer curing times, the appearance and properties remain stable.
Successful development work confirmed in real-world use
Behind the switch lies intensive development work by Brillux Industrielack. “Our aim was to redevelop the powder coatings without compromising on quality. At least as good or better: all product variants meet this requirement,” explains Dr Schlosser. The NT powder coatings possess the same proven properties as the previous standard products, including high corrosion protection, mechanical resilience, excellent UV and weather resistance, and very good flow for high-quality surfaces. The over-bake-stable formulation of the NT powder coatings increases tolerance to process-related deviations and reduces the risk of rejects. Brillux Industrielack has already tested the new products on various customer facilities. Furthermore, various powder coating types have already met the factory standards of various manufacturers.
Brillux Industrielack is systematically switching over: anyone wishing to purchase powder coatings in future will receive the new NT grades. The only exceptions are powder coatings that must meet a specific factory standard. Brillux Industrielack also intends to gradually achieve these standards using the NT powders. The switch is accompanied by a change in product names. Best-sellers such as Universal Polyester Powder 5940 or Premium Polyester Powder 5930 will become B-Powder LT Coat PE 5950 and B-Powder LT Premium Coat PE 5990 respectively in the new NT range. Special powder-based coatings, such as the antibacterial Steriface coating or anti-graffiti coatings, remain unaffected by the changeover for the time being.
Anyone wishing to see for themselves the benefits of Brillux Industrielack’s new NT powder coating range can discover the products at PaintExpo 2026 at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre. To coincide with its exhibition appearance, the company is launching a new physical sample book. This also focuses on the sensitive issue of over-firing stability. Brillux Industrielack is presenting a new NT powder with an identical colour shade under both NT and classic parameters – without any impact on surface quality.
In addition to the switch to NT powder coatings, Brillux Industrielack is also showcasing powder coatings for military applications with the F9 certificate from the Bundeswehr Institute WIWeB for all relevant camouflage colours, as well as the powder coating sample collection as a practical advisory tool featuring authentic samples.
