Interview with Marc Holz
Marc Holz, CEO, IFO Institut für Oberflächentechnik GmbH in Interview.
In your opinion, what are currently the biggest challenges for painting companies and job-shop coaters?
Currently, some environmental and health issues are being discussed in the industry. Issues such as titanium dioxide labeling, hazardous substance symbols for proven coating symbols etc. unsettle the user. Where are you travelling to? Maintaining the genuine, unadulterated overview and maintaining product quality even under the existing cost pressure are, for me, the challenges of a coating company or the industry.
From your standpoint, what are the best ways to optimize coating processes?
A sensible production planning and trained employees who understand the different process stages and thus recognize potential errors in good time and avoid, in my opinion represent the biggest optimization screw.
What trends are emerging in your area of industrial painting technology?
Higher decorative requirements for a wide variety of components. Previously, an agricultural machine or a street lamp was considered by the customer only under the same color and corrosion-resistant focus, nowadays a high degree of uniformity is required. This sensitivity of the customer is increasingly being observed by us in the handling of disputes.
What developments/solutions does your company offer for these trends?
We help with disputes or claims and complaints as a neutral partner and intermediary with our expertise and know-how. As a court and party expert or moderator, we are involved in problem areas in the paint industry in many sectors. An affiliated testing laboratory has numerous test methods for the qualification and characterization of painted components.
What significance does PaintExpo have for your company?
Industry meeting and unique opportunity to meet many customers in one place and convince new customers with our competence and our services.
