Interview with Jürgen Becker
Jürgen Becker, Market Segment Manager Industrial Paint, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies in Interview.
In your opinion, what are currently the biggest challenges for painting companies and job-shop coaters?
First and foremost, this has to be the monitoring of results and processes. How efficient is the plant? Are defects being caused as a result of inclusions in the paint? What about employee safety, i.e. air quality inside the cabin? Companies are also faced with the task of reducing their operating costs while at the same time maintaining quality – this is no easy task, especially in view of declining workloads. Last but not least, of course, it’s all about the ecological balance of the systems: what contribution can a coating business make to protecting the environment?
From your standpoint, what are the best ways to optimize coating processes?
Standards. With standardized inspection procedures it is possible to monitor and stabilize relevant process parameters. In addition, it is important to monitor developments in the market. What new possibilities are there and how can I bring my plants up to the latest technical standards? State-of-the-art techniques help to sustainably improve the painting process.
What trends are emerging in your area of industrial painting technology?
When it comes to the removal of overspray, the current trend is away from wet washing and towards dry paint separation systems. These require neither water nor chemicals and are effective, efficient and easy to use. Furthermore, the possibility of making supposedly fixed operating costs more flexible through CPU models is an important issue.
What developments/solutions does your company offer for these trends?
With Viledon filterCair, our filter management system in the CPU model, we provide a comprehensive filter program along with services and warranties. This enables coating companies and contract coaters to effectively reduce costs, continuously improve both air quality and their systems, and ensure long-term quality. With our filter plates and boxes, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies is able to offer both one-off customized solutions as well as filters for multi-stage dry separation filter systems. We can also undertake plant conversions from wet to dry separation.
What significance does PaintExpo have for your company?
This trade fair provides us with a valuable opportunity to directly exchange ideas with operators and plant constructors and to present and explain our solutions on a technical and commercial level.
