Interview with Jörg Zimmerhackel
Jörg Zimmerhackel, CEO, CS Oberflächentechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Interview.
In your opinion, what are currently the biggest challenges for painting companies and job-shop coaters?
As in the past, production costs are still the greatest challenge. For example continuously increasing costs for raw materials (powdered enamel, energy etc.), and at the same time, lot quantities and the workpieces to be coated are getting smaller and smaller with an ever greater diversity of colours.
From your standpoint, what are the best ways to optimize coating processes?
Correct use of application technology – we still see a great need for investment on the part of our users in Germany. And of course the right system concept and good material flow are also important.
There’s still lots of potential where workpiece carriers and hangers are concerned. Too much air is being coated instead of parts (consider the issue of initial application efficiency).
Control concepts (system), as well as further digitalisation and simplification of work processes and individual work steps, are highly topical issues in this regard as well (Industry 4.0).
What trends are emerging in your area of industrial painting technology?
Without a doubt, automation through the use of robotics – in particular the use of simple programming options and position correction.
And of course efficient production of single pieces right on up to mid-sized and large series with a single system.
What developments/solutions does your company offer for these trends?
Solutions in all possible areas including the ones mentioned above. Not only with available standard solutions, but rather with solutions which are custom matched to the user’s requirements.
Mutual recognition of processes, analysis and the discovery of customized solutions. Remaining future-oriented and flexible at the same time.
What significance does PaintExpo have for your company?
It’s very important as an industry meet and marketplace in order to get together with existing and potential customers, and other interested business partners.
