In your opinion, what are currently the biggest challenges for painting companies and job-shop coaters?

Today, there is hardly any planning security for job-shop coaters:

Just-in-time deliveries combined with constantly growing sales figures, shorter product cycles and smaller batch sizes represent a major challenge. Job-shop coaters today are under great pressure to be able to react to the different and rapidly changing requirements of their customers with the most flexible system concepts possible. With regard to the daily work of contract coaters, minimizing the reject rate is a particular challenge.

In addition, the energetic optimisation of the production facility and environmental aspects are becoming more and more important.

From your standpoint, what are the best ways to optimize coating processes?

From an environmental and economic point of view, a reduction in paint and energy consumption should of course always be the goal when we talk about an improvement in the coating process.

By monitoring the process parameters, the production process can be optimized in real time and additional data for process improvement can be obtained.

What trends are emerging in your area of industrial painting technology?

First of all, there is the integration of process monitoring and the associated recording of production data. In addition, more and more flexible coating systems are in demand, which enable our customers to use different types of coating systems in the same plant in order to react flexibly to smaller batch sizes and the fast-moving market. Furthermore, there is an increasing demand for workpiece- and material-specific application technology, which we can serve with our in-house production.

What developments/solutions does your company offer for these trends?

Since we manufacture our application technology in-house, we are fortunate to be able to offer a broad portfolio and individual solutions here. We have around 1,500 variants of nozzle sets for internal coating only. We take on an extensive consulting role for our customers in order to define the optimal process. We do this by means of test series in our application centre, among other things.

What significance does PaintExpo have for your company?

PaintExpo is the central trade show in the field of industrial coating technology. Nowhere else do we meet so many existing customers, potential new customers and suppliers within four days. The show is ideal for presenting innovations and developments in the industry and for establishing contacts with industry actors.
